The Horrors Of Hell
I. If you go to hell you will associate with the wicked of all ages.
A. We must at times be around those who take God=s name in vain.
B. Think what it will be like in hell?
C. Hell prepared for the devil and his angels - AThen shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:@
The devil and the demons will not control hell, they will burn in hell like all of the damned.
Rev. 21:8, ABut the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.@
Hell will be populated with atheists, agnostics, skeptics, extremists of every sort.
If man dies unsaved, he will wallow in eternities= garbage dump forever.
II. Hell will be a place of unsatisfied desires.
A. The lustful cravings of the damned will not be satisfied. Rev. 22:11, AHe that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.@
There will be no alcohol for the addicts - No tobacco for cigarette smoking, snuff dipping, tobacco spitting, cigar munching crowd.
B. Will reap what you sow - Gal. 6:7-8, A Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.@
III. Hell will be a place where men will have a bitter, biting, burning, remorseful, guilty conscience.
A. In the USA someone attempts to commit suicide every minute rather than face shame or utter despair.
B. Can you imagine the shock of finding out that in death men will retain their mental faculties - AAnd in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.@ Luk. 16:23
Memory will also be retain - AThen he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.@ Luk. 16:27B28.
C. If you die as an non-Christian you=ll remember the opportunities that you had to become a child of God.
D. If you die as an erring Christian, you=ll have all eternity to regret your failures.
E. Hell will have a theme song - AIt Might Have Been@
F. The road to hell will be paved with good intentions.
IV. Hell will be a place of eternal death.
James tells us what physical death is - AFor as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.@ Jam. 2:26
Eternal death is the separation of our spirits from God - A But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.@ Isa. 59:2.
Our sins can only be forgiven only when we obey the gospel.
If we do not obey the gospel, we will undergo what Paul declares in II Thess. 1:7-9, AAnd to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;@
Conclusion:
The torments of hell are so terrible that God does not want a single soul to go there.
A Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?@ Ezek 33:11.
II Pet. 3:9, AThe Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us‑ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.@
Want you become a Christian tonight like the Corinthians? A And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.@ Acts 18:8.
