Who Should Be Baptized?
God's word says to be saved. "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved..." (MK 16:16).  One should be baptized because he wants to please God.  The Scriptures teach one should be baptized for remissions of sins.  "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..." (Acts 2:38).  One should be baptized to reach the blood of Christ and get into Christ.  "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ" (Gal 3:27).  Paul says in Rom 6:3 we are baptized into his (Christ) death.  "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into his death."  In baptism one comes in contact with the blood of Christ.  Jesus shed His blood in His death.  We are baptized into the benefits of His blood and thereby cleansed from our sins by His blood in the act of baptism.  One should be baptized to be born again.  "Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God" (Jn. 3:5).  In the spiritual birth the Spirit begets us through the seed, which is the Word of God, (LK 8:11), (I Pet 1:23) and the birth is consummated in baptism.  Why should one be baptized? Because Jesus says to be saved we must.  Also it is a commandment of God's word, (Acts 10:48).

Baptism stands between the alien sinner and his salvation. Hence, baptism is most essential and necessary.  I trust you will honestly and sincerely consider these scriptures and teachings on baptism. Let's forget what men teach and go back to the Bible for the basis of our beliefs and actions.

I had tried for three days to get my teenage daughter to do several jobs around the house.  Finally, I wrote her a note listing the chores and signing it, as I always do, "Love Dad". When I came home from work that night, my daughter put her arms around me and kissed me.  Then she took my note and crossed off "Love Dad" from the list.  Nothing else had been done.  This story is cute.  However it suggests an alarming attitude that prevails in religion today.  Many claim to love the Lord, and yet they do none of the things He has commanded. Despite the Lord's teaching there are those today who claim to love Him, and yet they will refuse to obey Jesus and his command to be baptized for the remission of sins.  What kind of love is it that will fail to obey the one who died on the cross for us?  Why do men work so hard to get around such scriptures as (Acts 2:38; 8:36; 10:48; 22:16; Rom 6:3-7; Gal 3:26-27; I Pet 3:21, etc.)  And then still claim love for the Lord.  NO one can deny that Jesus himself stated, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved." MK 16:16.  But, those who teach baptism is not essential for salvation are dong just that.  Is this love?  What did Jesus say about Love?  "If we love him we will keep his commandments." John 14:15.

Yes, love for God is obedience to Him.  The writer of the Hebrew letter informs us that Christ is the Savior of those who obey Him.  This then is love, doing what God says.  I invite you to love Him.

Again we go to the New Testament and let it answer the question.  John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  The New Testament teaches that one must be born of water and the Spirit before they can receive remission of sins.  Saul was told to arise and be baptized and wash away his sins, calling on the name of the Lord (Acts 22:16).  Notice that Saul believed and was penitent before he was baptized.  Why was he baptized?  To have his sins "washed away" or "forgiven."  This scripture tell us why one should be baptized.  In Acts 2:37 Peter told those Jews who were gathered to, repent ye, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins. Why were they baptized?  To have the remission of their sins. Why be baptized, to be saved, to receive remission of sins, to enter into the kingdom of God.
