THE GOSPEL PLAN OF SALVATION

Consider what the Bible has to say about man's salvation from his sins:

TO BE PLEASING TO GOD, WE MUST PUT HIM FIRST IN OUR LIVES

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all.

ALL HAVE SINNED AND ARE IN NEED OF A SAVIOR

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.

1 John 3:4 . . . sin is lawlessness.

Romans 3:23 . . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

CHRIST IS THAT SAVIOR

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners . . . "

Matthew 1:21 "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."

Acts 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. . ."

Matthew 11:28-29 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. . ."

THROUGH CHRIST'S SACRIFICIAL DEATH,
MAN OBTAINS OPPORTUNITY OF ETERNAL LIFE WITH GOD

Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

Mat 26:28 "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.

GOD'S WORD HARMONIZES TO REVEAL HIS PLAN OF SALVATION FOR MANKIND

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you; unless you believed in vain.

James 1:21 . . . receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

John 17:17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth."

John 8:31-32 . . . "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

HEARING THE WORD PREACHED IS A FIRST STEP TO FAITH IN GOD'S PROMISES

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

1 Corinthians 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

A FAITH PLEASING TO GOD MUST BE AN OBEDIENT FAITH

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. . ."

James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works [of faith]? Can faith save him?

James 2:24,26 You see then that a man is justified by works [of faith], and not by faith only . . . For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works [of faith] is dead also.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works [of merit], lest anyone should boast.

BELIEF IN JESUS CHRIST AS THE SON OF GOD IS COMMANDED
John 8:24 "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

Acts 16:30-31 . . . "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

REPENTANCE, TURNING AWAY FROM SINS, IS COMMANDED

Acts 17:30 "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

Acts 3:19 "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out . . .

Luke 13:3 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

CONFESSION OF JESUS AS CHRIST BEFORE MEN IS COMMANDED

Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

BAPTISM AS AN OBEDIENT ACT OF FAITH IS COMMANDED

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

1 Peter 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us; baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Acts 22:16 'And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'

REMAINING FAITHFUL IS ESSENTIAL

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Revelation 2:10 . . . Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

GOD'S WORD IS THE STANDARD BY WHICH WE WILL ALL BE JUDGED

John 12:48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him; the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. . . "

Romans 2:16 . . . in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

James 2:12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. . ."

1 Peter 1:17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; . . .

Psalm 96:13 For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, And the peoples with His truth.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works [of faith], by the things which were written in the books.
