
There has probably been more controversy over baptism than any other biblical teaching. Many times the discussions extend from sprinkling water on one, to immersion in water, to having nothing to do with salvation, to that of its being essential to salvation, and of inducting one into a church to that of putting one into Christ.
It's hard to understand why there is so much disagreement since the teachings of the New Testament are simple and easily understood. Disagreement comes when men attempt to prove their opinions and theories by the bible. We need to let the New Testament speak on this subject to understand it. When we just listen to the teaching of the New Testament on baptism and not one trying to prove his opinions, the teaching of baptism is easily understood.
